The United States Soccer Federation and Nike unveiled the kits the USMNT will wear at this summer’s FIFA World Cup, drawing direct inspiration from the American flag. Two distinct jerseys were revealed: a home kit with curving red and white stripes that echo the team’s 2012 look, and a navy away kit subtly decorated with star motifs.
For the first time, the same crest and kit design will be used across all 27 U.S. Soccer national teams, including the USWNT. U.S. Soccer said players were involved in the process through design workshops and listening sessions, where they weighed in on details such as fabric weight, seam placement, mobility and fit.
Dave Wright, chief commercial officer of U.S. Soccer, framed the release as a unifying moment: “A national team jersey represents the pride of wearing the crest, not just for players on the field, but also for the fans who support them every step of the way.” He added that having the 2026 World Cup come to the U.S. makes the shared kit especially meaningful as supporters and players prepare for the tournament.
Design details include an “Inner Pride” mark inside the collar meant to symbolize each player’s internal motivation, and a newly created “Stars and Stripes” font for names and numbers that will be used on future kits. Ronnie J. Stewart, global product director for Nike, said the two options offer different appeals: “If you want to be loud and proud and represent the crest, no one’s going to doubt who you’re there for in the light kit. If you’re looking for that lifestyle look that works off the field, the dark is for you.”
Fans will see the kits in action when the USMNT meets Belgium in a friendly at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on March 28, followed by a match against Portugal on April 1, also in Atlanta. The 2026 World Cup opens June 11 at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City with Mexico vs. South Africa; the U.S. begins its tournament on June 12 against Paraguay at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.
