Arsenal defender Katie Reid will miss the remainder of the season after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in training. The 19-year-old academy graduate had been one of Arsenal’s standout performers this campaign.
Reid is the seventh player in the Women’s Super League this season to sustain an ACL injury, joining team-mates Manuela Zinsberger and Michelle Agyemang, who is currently on loan at Brighton. Reid started six of her seven appearances for Arsenal and was voted the club’s player of the month for September.
Her form earned her an England senior call-up in October, although she later withdrew because of a “small injury”. Arsenal are already missing defender Leah Williamson, who has not played since captaining England to Euro 2025 success over the summer.
With Reid unavailable, fellow England international Lotte Wubben-Moy filled her place in Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea. Arsenal sit fourth in the WSL, six points behind leaders Manchester City, and will travel to Bayern Munich on Wednesday for their next Women’s Champions League group-stage fixture (17:45 GMT).
Fans can also catch coverage and discussion on the Women’s Football Weekly podcast, where Ben Haines, Ellen White and Jen Beattie return for another season. New episodes are released every Tuesday on BBC Sounds, with extra interviews and WSL content available on the Women’s Football Weekly feed.
