AFC Bournemouth have left defender Alex Jimenez out of their squad while they investigate posts circulating on social media.
The 21-year-old Spaniard, who arrived from AC Milan last summer, will not be involved in Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Fulham as the club looks into the matter.
The club said it is aware of the posts involving the right-back, understands the seriousness of the situation and is conducting an investigation. As a result Jimenez will be omitted from the matchday squad and the club will make no further comment at this time.
Jimenez initially joined Bournemouth on loan before completing a permanent move in February on a contract running until 2031. He has featured 32 times for the club this season, scoring once in the 3-2 home win over Liverpool.
