Bermuda Cricket Board Celebrates Stars at Annual Awards Night

The Bermuda Cricket Board recognized outstanding contributions in cricket at its annual awards ceremony, highlighting achievements and honoring dedicated individuals.

On Saturday evening, the Bermuda Cricket Board (BCB) held its annual Prize Giving Awards ceremony at the Warwick Workmen’s Club. This event celebrated the contributions of players, coaches, officials, administrators, and teams who have excelled in the sport over the past season.

Honoring Memories

The ceremony began with a poignant moment of silence observed by BCB president Lloyd Smith, who paid tribute to the late Winston Reid and Gary Fray. Both individuals were deeply valued within the Bermudian cricket community, and their recent passings have created a void that many are feeling.

Significant Attendees and Speeches

The event was graced by the presence of Owen Darrell, Minister of Tourism, Transport, Culture & Sport. In his address, Darrell emphasized cricket's role in Bermuda's cultural identity and commended the men's national team for their recent successes on the international stage.

Former head coach of Cricket West Indies, Andre Coley, served as the guest speaker. He provided powerful insights into the importance of performance development and the future of Bermudian cricket on a global level.

Major Award Winners

This year's major accolades went to Southampton Rangers Sports Club and Warwick Workmen's Club, both of which excelled in multiple leagues and knockout formats. Southampton Rangers swept the Premier Division, while Warwick Workmen's Club dominated the First Division.

Among the standout individuals was Allan Douglas Jr., who was named MVP of the 50 Overs Premier Division for his impressive performance that included 272 runs and 11 wickets. Onias Bascome claimed the title for Most Runs in the same division, racking up an impressive 306 runs.

First Division Highlights

In the First Division, standout player Malachi Jones took home the MVP award for the T20 format, with notable statistics of 81 runs and 9 wickets. Furthermore, the 50 Overs First Division MVP was awarded to Charles Trott from PHC, who tallied 224 runs alongside 14 wickets.

The BCB Icon Award was bestowed upon Derek Wright, recognizing his decades of service to the game. Samantha Robinson also received a Long Service Award for her dedicated 20-year tenure with the Bermuda Cricket Board.

Corporate contributions were not overlooked, with the Good Corporate Citizenship Award presented to Cox Hallett Wilkinson (CHW) for their unwavering support of the BCB Senior Men’s National Team throughout 2026. Fiona Bada accepted the award on behalf of CHW.
