Patience Key for Bhuvneshwar Kumar's Comeback, Says Kaif

Mohammad Kaif supports Bhuvneshwar Kumar following his costly return to international cricket, advocating for patience and highlighting the challenges of the game.

Bhuvneshwar Kumar’s much-anticipated return to the Indian cricket team has not gone as smoothly as hoped. After almost four years away from the international arena, the seasoned bowler faced challenges in his comeback match against New Zealand. However, former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif is urging fans and critics alike to exercise patience with the veteran pacer.

Time Needed for Adjustment

In his first T20I match back, Kumar struggled significantly, conceding 49 runs and failing to take a wicket within four overs. His performance was further marred by no-balls, which raised eyebrows among fans and analysts. Despite these setbacks, Kaif argues that it is too early to cast judgment on the 36-year-old's abilities.

“He is coming back after four years. Give him some time. It has been only two games. Cricket changes a lot in four years,” Kaif commented on his YouTube channel, emphasizing the importance of allowing players some time to adjust.

IPL vs. International Cricket

Kaif also pointed out the stark differences between the Indian Premier League (IPL) and international cricket. He noted that while Bhuvneshwar has excelled in franchise cricket, the pressures and challenges of representing India are substantially different.

“The game has gone to new heights. Playing in the IPL and playing for India is very different,” he explained. Kaif further noted that expectations can be misleading, particularly regarding batting conditions that may seem favorable but can be deceptive.

Focus on No-Balls

The scrutiny surrounding Kumar’s recent performance naturally stems from his past reputation for accuracy. Kaif believes that while Bhuvneshwar’s figures might appear disappointing, they do not reflect the entire picture accurately.

“It’s early to judge right now. Yes, he will have to work on the no-balls. That’s changing the momentum for him. It shows 50 off four overs, but if you break it down over by over, his bowling has been decent,” Kaif remarked.

Moving forward, Bhuvneshwar Kumar's ability to regain his rhythm and tighten his bowling execution will be crucial for the team. With his experience and skill set, there remains optimism about Bhuvneshwar’s ability to bounce back and evolve as a player in the evolving landscape of international cricket.
