Fantasy Football Week 7 Guide: Start Roschon Johnson and Luther Burden

Week 7 fantasy football decisions focus on Roschon Johnson and Luther Burden, while Rome Odunze faces uncertainty.

With the Chicago Bears set to clash with the New England Patriots on Thursday night for Week 7, fantasy football managers have some crucial decisions to make regarding running back Roschon Johnson and wide receivers Luther Burden and Rome Odunze.

Roschon Johnson: A Solid Option

Roschon Johnson has shown marked improvement, especially after an impressive performance in Week 6. Rushing for 51 yards and securing a touchdown on 13 carries, along with 34 yards on two receptions, Johnson has stepped up in the absence of Kyle Monangai, who is sidelined due to injury. However, a late-game fumble put a slight damper on his otherwise strong game.

In the context of the ongoing season, Johnson’s workload has increased, moving from 10 touches in Week 5 to 15 touches in Week 6, showcasing his expanding role within the offense. Over the past two weeks, he has garnered seven receptions on nine targets—a boost that fantasy players may not have anticipated.

Currently, Johnson ranks as RB18 in total fantasy points during this span and holds a position of RB23 when adjusted for fantasy points per game, making him a flex play worth considering. Additionally, with the Bears aiming to manage D'Andre Swift's load, Johnson seems poised for another active week.

The matchup against the Patriots appears to be neutral, providing a decent opportunity for Johnson to shine. Therefore, if you're struggling with your running back options, he remains a strong candidate for your lineup this week. However, it's essential to balance this with proven starters if available.

Decision: Start Roschon Johnson.

Rome Odunze: Time to Sit

This season, the dynamic at wide receiver for the Bears has shifted, with Luther Burden stepping up as the primary receiving target. In contrast, Rome Odunze has struggled, having not yet secured a touchdown and surpassing 52 receiving yards only once all season.

As it stands, Odunze is ranked WR49 in the league, making him an unreliable option as a starter, even facing a Patriots team that yields the 16th-most fantasy points per game to wide receivers.

Given his lack of production, it would be wise to sit Odunze in favor of players who can provide more consistent points.

Decision: Sit Rome Odunze.

Luther Burden: Start with Confidence

On the other hand, Luther Burden has established himself as the go-to receiver for quarterback Caleb Williams. With eight receptions for 95 yards last week, Burden marked his best game of the season, and his fantasy outlook is looking bright.

Burden currently occupies the WR21 spot in total fantasy points and WR26 when looking at points per game. His consistent performances make him a viable flex option each week.

This week, Burden faces a favorable matchup against the Patriots. With New England missing cornerback Carlton Davis due to injury, Burden's chances for success increase significantly, making him an attractive start option.

Decision: Start Luther Burden.
