British ice dancers Lilah Fear and Lewis Gibson captured gold at the NHK Trophy in Osaka, earning their 10th career Grand Prix medal and clinching a spot at the Grand Prix Final in Nagoya this December.
The duo finished on 205.88 points and led the competition from start to finish. Their Rhythm Dance, set to Spice Girls music, and a Free Dance infused with Scottish themes drew an enthusiastic response from the crowd. Gibson, 31, hails from Scotland; Fear, 26, was born in the United States and raised in London.
Together they are seven‑time British champions and this season added an ice dance bronze at the World Championships in Boston — Great Britain’s first World skating medal in more than 40 years. While they have secured a quota place for Team GB at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan–Cortina, they have not yet received official Olympic selection. They previously finished 10th at the 2022 Beijing Games.
Their NHK Trophy victory arrives ahead of the British Championships, where Fear and Gibson stand poised to become the most decorated British ice dance pair in history, potentially surpassing the medal hauls of Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean and of Sinead and John Kerr.
