Harry Kane Crowned Ballon d'Or Winner at 70th Ceremony

Harry Kane clinches the Ballon d'Or, becoming the first English winner in 25 years, while other Premier League stars also shine in rankings.

In a historic night at London's Palladium Theatre, Harry Kane has been awarded the prestigious Ballon d'Or, marking a significant achievement in his illustrious career. The legendary striker, now with Bayern Munich, is the first English player to secure this accolade since Michael Owen did so 25 years ago.

A Remarkable Achievement

Kane's victory was a result of his remarkable performance over the past year, where he showcased his talent at both the club and international levels. Finishing first, Kane surpassed fierce competitors including Kylian Mbappe from Real Madrid, who took second place, and Barcelona's Lamine Yamal, who ended up third.

Winning with Bayern Munich

Last season proved fruitful for Kane, as he helped Bayern Munich secure both the Bundesliga title and the German Cup. Additionally, he played a crucial role in England's journey to a third-place finish in the World Cup, demonstrating his prowess on the global stage.

During his acceptance speech, Kane expressed deep gratitude towards Tottenham Hotspur, the club where he developed his career from a young age. "I want to say thank you to Tottenham Hotspur. I wouldn’t be where I am today without Tottenham, for sure. All those ups and downs have led me to this moment," he remarked.

The ceremony also highlighted other top figures from the Premier League, with Erling Haaland from Manchester City being the highest-ranked player in the list, securing the eighth position. Last season, Haaland made headlines by winning the FA Cup, EFL Cup, and the Premier League Golden Boot, while also contributing significantly to Norway reaching the World Cup quarter-finals.
